But when I first arrived here (over 18 months ago!@!!) I was a shade of vivid red and maintained that colour for a while, until I noticed an interesting phenomenon here . . . amongst the older population (75+). I noticed a significantly large number of women in this generation with vivid red or orange hair, or with shocks of vivid red or orange hair!!!!!!
Not wanting to be classified with this age group (I am only 40!!) I have now steered away from red! But I was curious as to why this was so here! So after talking with a few people, the only rational explanation I have uncovered is that when people retire here, they feel released from the strict regime of rules and regulations and feel able to "break out". For many women, this presents itself in the colour of their hair!!! This would explain the woman I saw, who must have been well over 80 with brilliant orange hair, some white regrowth, walking down the street . . . with her walking frame!!!
So when we were at Anna's school for her first day, and I was looking around the room as they were making some really "interesting" (not) speeches, I could not resist taking this photo surreptiously under the guise of photographing the speechmaker!! Now, I know this woman is not over 70, but it shows you what I am talking about!!!

So funny, that is prescisely why I changed from red to boring brown - just too many 40++ women were doing red blocks to their hair - I wasn't going to voluntarily hop into that category but I do miss it! Maybe I'll do blue next as the old ladies blue & pink no longer seems to be in?? xx
I think I'll stay boring a few streaks is all I can manage and yes I'm over 40 but I don't want to make a statement like her.
Well that leaves a radical cut then doesnt it Kate, if you cant colour it something bright, then may a mohawk? hey you wanted dreads? umm, bald? Oh by the way, letter is nearly finished....
Well... lets see it!! I wanna see what you look like black! I too have gone back to black, a sheik kind of sleek wannabe growing bob, on any given day I could be mistaken for an ordinary house wife, or Sydney Bristow from ALIAS - depending on whether I have done it or not! He he xx
