Well - I thought it might be yet another "cross cultural experience" and Yes ... it was!
So we toodled off by bike to the swimming pools today for day one of the kids 10-day intensive swim course. I was a little apprehensive after my last swimming lesson experience with the Anna (another story for another day). But - GREAT NEWS - the teacher was really nice and apparently even used words like "super" and "A1".
But actually - that is all second-hand because they wouldn't let the parents in!!!!!!!! So we were allowed into the changing rooms to get the kids changed and then had to go and wait outside until they finished. Then we were allowed back into the changing rooms at the end to help them get changed!!! I spoke with one of the other parents and she said they always do this - even when her daughter was 4 and having swimming lessons, she wasn't allowed in!
What is it with the Germans?? They have this thing about "trained teachers" being the only ones who know what is best for your child. Even at Sam's school, I was told that "the school belongs to the children and the parents are not welcome in the classrooms."
Anyway - I think tomorrow I will just pay to get into the swimming pool as a swimmer (5 euros for 1&1/2 hours) just so I can check up on them! A little sneaky I know!!
PS - I have no photo for this, because I wasn't allowed in!!!!

Cannot believe these freaky Germans, this must be such a head trip for you guys, I would be ripping my hair out trying not to rip theirs out!
I'm not giving up on the Dermawand yet mate, I'm gonna push on through for another couple of days and see if I can make a dent in this forehead crinkle of mine - that I got from my former occupation (oh that's right, I'm supposed to be over that! Oops sorry - getting there - LOL!!!) Love ya's x
Yeah, pretty scary philosophy the germans have aye, hey, dont mention the war! No I couldnt stand it either, not being able to see what my kid was doing. whats with that! You are doing the right thing to pay and get it, as insain as that is!
are you an ALIAS freak like the rest of us? i'm sure Marshal could miracle ya up some long-range telephoto lenses that ya stick inside your reading glasses. you could wire an earpiece into your girls' ears and then you could hear what's *really* going down.
just keep the dictionary outta sight under that Woman's Day X
was gonna leave an even more convoluted comment about shocking the Swimming Instructors with the earpiece manoeuvre.
instead i'll settle for a wee typo correction
Marshall
thank you and good night
