It is 32 degrees today! And it isn't even summer yet!! Our car has been sounding really bad (muffler is poked) and so Bryce bought the part but didn't get time to change it before he left for NZ. But I managed to con a couple of friends to do the job today.
So today - while it was 32 degrees - they worked on the car for 2 and a half hours and when it was finished, it sounded just as bad as before, and was still coughing, spluttering and stalling! After another look, they discovered that there were yet another 2 holes in the back end of the muffler. Andreas convinced me that he could just weld them (the front part cost us 300 euros!!) but it would take about another 2 and a half hours. And perhaps he can do it next week.
So I drove the car home - feeling rather embarrassed and discouraged, as it sounds like a tractor and keeps missing. We stopped at some lights and it stalled (again). I started it again and looked down at the dashboard to see that the odometer had zeroed itself!!! Yes - 10 seconds before it read something like 159,356 and then it read 000,000!!!!
So now I have a 12 year old car that runs like a tractor, but has 0km's on the clock! Anyone want to buy it???
But seriously - it is now doubtful that any German will want to buy it as I have no proof of how many km's it has done. So in 10 seconds we have probably lost 1000 euros!!!
Needless to say I had a headache when I got home.

Yeah that sux. You need one of those Flinstone cars. No engine probs, no muffler, you'd just need to replace the soles of your shoes every so often! We've finally replaced Grants car, his old one only drives forward, reserve doesnt work so anywhere he went he had to make sure he could drive forward out of where he'd parked. Word Verification "ammuturk" heh?
